Yard Waste Recycling
Upcoming curbside collection:
On Tuesday, April 17, 2018 the City Council voted in favor of providing $200,000 in funding for the March nor’easter tree and brush debris collection. The Public Works Department will begin to collect tree and brush during the week of May 7, 2018.
Storm debris to be collected should be 14 inches in diameter or less and does not need to be bundled or cut to specific length or dimensions. Trees, tree branches and brush will be collected; small twigs can be bagged in biodegradable bags only. The City will not collect tree stumps, leaves, grass clippings or construction debris.
Residents should neatly stack the tree and brush debris at the edge of the road, but should be careful not to obstruct the roadway or sidewalks. City employees will not enter private property to gather the debris.
This special brush collection will be conducted during the regularly scheduled brush cleanup. Brush will be collected in a systematic manner, but will not be scheduled per the Sanitation routes, and therefore will not be collected in conjuction with residents' trash/recycling pickup day.
The originally scheduled leaf collection for the dates below are on schedule and will be picked up on residents' regular trash/recycling collection day.
Leaf Collection: Week of April 23-27,2018 and Week of April 30-May 4, 2018
Brush only: Week of October 22-26, and December 3-7, 2018
Yard waste only: Week of October 29- November 30, 2018
**Curbside collection of these items will be the same day as your regular trash pickup**

A separate collection vehicle is dispatched to collect only yard waste and brush during the following designated collection weeks.
Preparing your yard waste and brush for curbside pickup:
Leaves, grass clippings, plant waste, and light trimmings too small to bundle: use paper leaf bags or reusable containers marked “yard waste”. Bags and containers cannot exceeded 40 pounds and 35 gallons.
Brush (sticks, twigs, branches, and shrubs): Pieces cannot exceed 4 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length. Bundle and tie with string or twine (no wire), or place in a reusable container marked "yard waste". Bundles and any yard waste or brush not conforming to these guidelines will not be collected and will be left at the curb.
Note: Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
